Reliant
Reliant, a name synonymous with quirky British engineering, carved a unique niche in automotive history. Founded in 1935, the company initially produced three-wheeled vehicles, later evolving into four-wheeled models. Their fiberglass bodies, a pioneering use of the material, became a Reliant hallmark, offering lightweight construction.
The Regal, and later the Scimitar, were among their most recognizable models. While often criticized for their build quality and performance limitations, Reliants were undeniably practical and affordable, particularly the three-wheelers, which benefited from favorable tax classifications. The brand's legacy is one of innovation and resourcefulness, though ultimately, Reliant struggled to compete in a changing market, ceasing production in 2002.
