Dacia

Dacia, a Romanian automaker, holds a unique position in automotive history. Born in 1966 under state control, its initial offering was a licensed Renault 12, rebranded as the Dacia 1300. This simple, robust sedan, and its subsequent variants, became a ubiquitous sight across Eastern Europe.

Throughout the communist era, Dacia focused on affordability and practicality, prioritizing function over form. While not known for innovation or luxury, these vehicles served their purpose, providing basic transportation for the masses.

Following the fall of the Iron Curtain, Dacia faced challenges adapting to a market economy. However, Renault's acquisition in 1999 breathed new life into the brand. Today, Dacia continues to emphasize value, offering budget-friendly vehicles that appeal to a specific segment of the market.
